First team fighting hard to the end
Reigate 10 - Guildford 20 On 25 March, Dragonflies' seniors ended their season with a hard-fought game against Guildford. They were one of the first teams played at the start of the season in October when they beat us away 24-5. This time they still had the upper hand for most of the game, with some fast, accurate attack and strong defence, in particular a really good goalie, and they won 10-20.
Guildford started really well and got 3 early goals but Reigate came back quickly with a great first goal from new member Hannah, followed by another from Tia. That first quarter was 2-7 and Guildford maintained a strong lead to end half time with 5-12, following goals from Hannah, Tia and Amy.
The second half saw Reigate come out fighting and with greater determination. Kendra scored a fabulous goal, followed by 2 goals from Emma M, one from draw and the other with an assist from Emma L. Emily scored the fourth goal of the third quarter whilst Guildford only managed 2. The final quarter saw Guildford with greater possession and with 6 goals to add, compared to 1 from Hannah for Reigate.
There was much improved communication in defence in this game and the younger Reigate players in particular really stepped up to the mark, difficult against a more mature and greater experienced team.
Coach's player was Emma Masters and Player of the Match was Tia Appea.
